Protein coffee is a delicious and nutritious way to start your day. My fave is from Iconic and is a high-protein, low-carbohydrate coffee that is perfect for those on a ketogenic diet or people who are looking to boost their energy levels. Protein coffee is also a great way to sneak more protein into your diet, which is important for muscle growth and repair.
As you may (or may not know) I’m a regular girl, trying to make it in this crazy world. So the links you’ll see below are affiliate links to Amazon, and as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. But this is the real deal, stuff I really buy and use. Just because I want to make some cash, doesn’t mean I’m shady.
My Favorite Protein Coffee:
I drink Protein Coffee every morning as part of my routine, and have enjoyed numerous health benefits, including increased energy and improved muscle growth. I drink a not super sugary Protein Coffee one of two ways:
1. Pre-Packaged // Cold - From Iconic
Iconic Protein Coffee - Mocha
Iconic Protein Coffe - Dark Roast
Iconic Sample Pack - Try 3 Flavors
2. Made At Home // Hot - From Sports Research
Why I love the Pre-Packaged Cold Protein Coffee from Iconic >
I have tried A TON of Protein Coffees, and Iconic is the only one that both tastes good, and isn’t filled with junk. Plus, it’s Columbian Coffee that provides extended energy with 200mg Caffeine from Fair Trade Arabica Coffee. It Also has Vitamin D3, Vitamin C and Zinc that offers immune support. And, don’t forget the MCT Oil that boosts cognitive function that helps burn fat and supports. brain function. Stay sharp no matter what your day has in store.
Iconic Protein Coffee in any of their flavors are vegan, made with 10g pea protein to fill you up and stop mid-morning cravings. Plus it’s got none of the bad stuff, zero sugar, 3g net carbs and healthy fats from MCTs - it’ll keep you in ketosis. It’s Gluten Free, Lactose Free, Non-GMO …honestly, not really sure how they do it.
I have found that incorporating Protein Coffee into my diet supported my weight loss goals, as it provides more nutrition than plain coffee and keeps you feeling full for longer periods of time. Plus, it can help to balance blood sugar levels and regulate metabolism, and it can lower stress levels due to its natural amino acids, which are necessary for muscle repair and growth.
Why I love At Home Hot with Collagen Protein
Not all collagen proteins are created equal - this one from Sports Research on Amazon is the best I’ve found that is also affordable. Some collagen powders are just stupid expensive. This powder dissolves really well in hot liquid. I drop it in hot coffee with some stevia, and you’re good to go. Other option is to dissolve it in hot water, then use your favorite drink flavoring (like Mio or even Liquid IV), chill and enjoy.
Benefits of Protein Coffee?
Protein coffee provides you with
a healthy dose of protein
an easy and delicious way to add protein to your existing morning routine
high-protein, low-carbohydrate option
boost of energy - but sustained vs. a short boost because coffee beans are low on the glycemic index
feeling full longer than a regular cup of coffee would
essential amino acids, which are essential for muscle growth and repair
healthy fats (based on the recipe/brand)
How to Make Protein Coffee?
Protein Coffee can can be made at home with protein powder, usually whey, casein, collagen or plant-based protein, and any type of milk, like almond, coconut, or regular dairy milk. Your favorite protein powder can also be combined with other ingredients such as nut butter, cocoa powder, or fruits, to boost the flavor and nutrition.
Once these ingredients are combined, add one cup of freshly brewed coffee and mix until everything is combined. You can also add sweetener or other flavorings, like cocoa powder or spices, to enhance the flavor and nutrition of the coffee.
Pea protein and collagen protein are two of my favorite vegan proteins, and they are perfect for a keto breakfast or keto protein shake.
And just a little louder for the people in the back - I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. It’s my honest opinions, and I hope you find it helpful!
